How do you price weekly lawn service?

One flat weekly rate based on lot size, slope and how much trimming the property needs. Mowing, edging, string trimming and blowing off hard surfaces are all inside that number. Nothing gets added to the invoice afterward.

Are estimates really free?

Yes, on everything. Small lawn jobs we can often price from the address alone. Design and planting projects get a walk-through, which is also free — you are not paying us to come look at your yard and talk about it.

Why does mulch cost more at one house than another?

Mulch is priced by the yard, and bed length varies enormously between properties. A township lot with long curving beds can take three or four times what a small borough front yard needs, even when the houses look similar in size.

How do you take payment?

Cash, check and card all work. Weekly customers are usually billed monthly rather than after every visit, which saves everyone the paperwork. Larger projects are typically split between a deposit for materials and a balance at completion.

What happens to my service day when it rains?

Rain pushes us back a day, not a week. Cutting wet ground rips turf and leaves ruts, so we would rather come Thursday than damage the lawn Wednesday. You hear from us that morning either way.

How early should I book seasonal work?

Aeration and overseeding should be booked by late August, since the seeding window here is only a few weeks long. Holiday lighting fills up through October. Mulch and cleanups are more flexible but spring gets busy fast.

Do I need to be home when you work?

Not for routine mowing, mulch or cleanups. We just need gate access and somewhere reasonable to park the trailer. For design projects we do like you there at the start so decisions get made while the crew is on site.

When does the mowing season start and end?

Usually mid to late April through early November in Allegheny County, depending on the spring. We do a first cut once the ground firms up and a final low cut in November before the last leaf cleanup.

How short should my grass be cut?

Around three to three and a half inches for our cool-season grass. Cutting shorter looks tidy for four days and then stresses the turf, dries the soil out and hands crabgrass an opening it does not need.

Can you save a lawn that is more weeds than grass?

Usually, though not in one season. The order is broadleaf control, then core aeration, then a heavy fall overseeding. By the second autumn most lawns look genuinely different. Anything promising a one-visit fix is not being straight with you.

Will you plant something specific I picked out?

Happily, as long as it will actually live in your conditions. If you want something that will not survive your shade, our clay, or the local deer, we will tell you before we plant it rather than after it dies.

Do you remove brush and overgrown areas?

Yes. Brush clearing, sumac and weed tree removal, shrub reduction and poison ivy areas are regular work for us. That kind of job is quoted after seeing it, because photos never quite convey how far the growth actually goes.

How big is J&J Landscaping?

Four of us, led by Jordan. That is deliberate. A small crew means the person who quoted your job is on your property doing it, and nobody has to be brought up to speed on what your yard needs.

Are you insured?

Yes, and we will send a certificate before we start if you want one. Property managers and landlords ask for this regularly. It matters most on higher-risk work like shrub and tree pruning or hanging lights on a steep roof.

Do you take on commercial properties?

Light commercial, yes — small office lots, apartment buildings and rental portfolios around Allegheny County. It runs on the same weekly model, and we can shift timing when parking or business hours make midday work awkward.

What happens if I am not happy with a visit?

Accepted Answer

Call and tell us. If we missed something or the cut was not right, we come back and fix it. That is the whole policy, and it is short because it does not need to be complicated.
