Almost every Wexford call starts the same way: the house is ten years old, the lawn looked perfect the first spring, and it has thinned a little every year since. That is not bad luck. Sod laid over compacted subsoil runs out of root room fast, and no amount of fertilizer gets past ground that hard.
So we start underneath. Core aeration to open the clay, an overseeding in early fall while soil is still warm, and amended soil in any bed we plant into. Once the ground works again, the rest of it — real bed lines, layered shrubs, a walkway that goes where people walk — actually holds up.
